My name is Verjik Abramian-Martin and I have always loved drawing and designing. I wanted to be a fashion designer, but soon I found out that I liked illustrating and designing more than sewing. After studying two years of business, I decided to enroll in The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. While working in several mediums including etching, drawing, pottery and sculpture, I chose watercolor for my primary means of expression.
I am fascinated with the translucency of this medium. Colors continue to inspire me.
My favorite subject is figurative painting especially quick sketches, but I paint still life as well. This painting is one of a few that I painted after I returned from a trip to Senegal. I would like to explore landscapes in the near future.
I belong to Bolton Artisans Guild. When I am not painting, I am designing jewelry, decorating, cooking and entertaining.
My favorite artists are Henri Mattise, Paul Cezanne, Pablo Picasso, Paul Gauguin, Edgar Degas, Mary Cassatt, Francisco José de Goya, and contemporary artist Wendy Artin.
